Starting July 29, we've been hosting the exhibition "Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky. Relics," dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the birth of Andrey Sheptytsky, Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
For many years, our museum has consistently honored the figure of the Metropolitan—a spiritual leader of the Ukrainian people, a patron of the arts, and a cultural activist. Our museum's researchers have organized exhibitions dedicated to various aspects of his life and work. These exhibitions have served as an intellectual and spiritual chronicle, revealing Sheptytsky not only as a metropolitan but also as a man of action, morality, and a national leader who was ahead of his time.
Our new exhibition is a continuation of this major museum series. Visitors can view unique artifacts directly related to the Metropolitan's person: an omophorion, a cliche for making an antimins, a silver candlestick with a bishop's coat of arms, an antimins signed by Andrey Sheptytsky, books from his private library, and documents with his personal signature. In addition, visitors can listen to a unique audio recording of his voice and watch documentary footage that preserves the image of this legendary person.
