The museum was established in 1985 through the dedicated efforts of Anatolii and Nataliia Pokotiuk.
Since 1995, it has operated as a branch of the Lviv Museum of the History of Religion.
This museum boasts a rich collection of ethnographical and sacral objects from Sokal District of Lviv. One of the exhibition halls of the Museum is a dedicated to Taras Shevchenko, featuring unique editions of the great poet's works, including “Kobzar” (St. Petersburg, 1867 and Geneva, 1878), as well as the smallest “Kobzar” (Krakow, 1940). The museum also houses a complete edition of T. Shevchenko's works (Lviv, 1936) and other rare exhibits.
The true treasure of the Museum lies in the collection of artworks by Anatolii Pokotiuk, a gifted artist and enthusiast. A. Pokotiuk's creations are renowned not only in Ukraine but also internationally, with his works displayed in many museums and private collections around the world.
