The Church of St. Archangel Michael in Stara Skvariava stands as one of Ukraine's oldest monuments of wooden folk architecture with a specific date of construction, 1508.

Within its walls, you can find some of the oldest icons, dating back to the 16th century, adorning the church's iconostasis. These remarkable works are attributed to the skilled masters of the Przemyśl school of icon painting. The royal doors of the iconostasis date back to the mid-17th century. Additionally, the icons on the bottom tier were crafted by the renowned painter of the Zhovkva art school, Ivan Rutkovych, between 1677 and 1687.

In 1995, the iconostasis from the village of Stara Skvariava was entrusted to the Lviv Museum of the History of Religion for preservation.

In 2009, a conservation project was initiated in the Church of St. Archangel Michael in the village, and it was successfully completed in 2014. On October 11, 2015, the Museum “Stara Skvaryava iconostasis of the 16th-18th centuries”, a branch of the Lviv Museum of the History of Religion, was opened within the church's premises.

Address: Lviv Region, Zhovkva United Territorial Community, the Village of Stara Skvariava, 2a T. Shevchenka Str.
